We would like to see applications for those who would welcome an adult with learning disabilities into your home on a short term, permanent or emergency basis as part of the Shared Lives scheme.
What is Shared Lives?
Shared Lives is a scheme which enables vulnerable adults with disabilities to live to be matched with a person who is a carer who has a spare room where the vulnerable adult can live and become part of the community. Carers can be families, couples or single people, and we recruit people from a range of different backgrounds, skill sets and life experiences. Carers are there to help with daily tasks such as cooking, shopping, laundry, study, socializing and exercise.

- You will be paid per person a rate agreed by the funding council who funds the placement.
Various positions available:
You can become a carer for Long term, and Short term.
Long term placements - a vulnerable adult needing support in your home on a longer term basis. The person would have their own room and be involved in all aspects of family life.
Short term placements - a vulnerable adult needing support for a short amount of time from anything to overnight stays to a couple of weeks to give another carer a break, Short breaks can be as frequent as once a week to once every few months, this all depends on what time you have available and how much support the vulnerable adult needs.
