Who we are
United Response is a leading national charity providing support to young people and adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs. We believe in championing the right of disabled people to live, work, socialise and participate in the community, free of discrimination and unnecessary boundaries.
Our Derwent Road Service
You will be joining a team which supports five adults with Learning and some physical disabilities. The people we support at this service love to go swimming, there fore it is essential that their Support Workers are comfortable with taking part in this activity. All five people we support have their own cars so it is desirable that you hold a driving licence although this is not essential.
Other activities our staff team at this service are expected to support with include:
- long walks
- sports such as cricket and trampolining.
What we need from you
For a Support Worker Role we do not ask applicants to come to us with specific qualifications or experience, what we are really looking for are Support Workers who are open to a challenge and have the right values to fit with our Organisation.
You should be able to change your communication style to meet the varying needs of the people we support (some people need support from someone bubbly and enthusiastic and others need their Support Worker to be calm and quietly spoken).
