Great place to work, great people to work with. Be a Support Worker (Nights) with United Response in Ipswich.  The service supports 5 adults with moderate to severe learning disabilities. The waking night post will be lone working and will require the successful applicant to complete their induction on day shifts prior to commencing waking night duties.

Who we are looking for

We need reliable and passionate people to join our close-knit team of Support Workers, supporting people out in the community, as well in their own homes. You’ll will ensure the building is secure at night and the people we support are comfortable. You will respond to their needs during the night, carry out regular checks and any general domestic tasks that are required.

Not got any experience?

Don’t worry! Those new to care will be fully supported. Our comprehensive training programme offers everyone – regardless of previous knowledge and experience – the chance to create a career they can be proud of.

What we need from you

You need compassion, integrity and to treat people with dignity and respect. You need to be reliable because people are depending on you. You also need to be a great communicator, both verbally and in writing and have basic IT and numerical skills.

Being a Waking Nights Support Worker is a great chance to experience unique opportunities that day staff may not necessarily get to see, night support is generally different to what you would expect to be doing during the day; you may support people with their bedtime routines, ensure that specific plans are followed in case of an emergency during the night, and help with preparing breakfast in the morning. All this goes towards helping you to build well rounded skills and expertise that will stay with you throughout your career in support.

Lots of people choose to use the quieter periods of time during waking nights to complete written study tasks as part of their training and development, not forgetting of course that as a night shift worker you will miss out on the rush hour journey to work every morning!
