We are looking for part-time Café Support Workers and Outreach Support Staff to join our team based in York. Relief contracts are available.

Who We Are

United Response is a leading national charity providing support to young people and adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs. We believe in championing the right of disabled people to live, work, socialise and participate in the community, free of discrimination and unnecessary boundaries.

We are a Supported Employment Service based in York, supporting people toward and to sustain employment. We work closely with the job seeker/employee as well as their families/carers all the while supporting the employer during this process.

Who We Are Looking For

Support workers to work across our Café training service and our Health and Wellbeing Outreach service within the York area. You will be expected to support people both within a busy café environment and lone working out in the community accessing activities such as health appointments, training, shopping, sports, activity groups and travel.

What We Need From You

We are looking for people who have retail/café/customer service experience as the café we run is a fast paced and successful café and it is vital that the successful candidate will be able to quickly fit into the team. On the support side of things we are looking for people who are passionate about helping others to reach their full independent potential so those new to care will be fully supported. Our comprehensive training programme offers everyone – regardless of previous knowledge and experience – the chance to create a career you can be proud of.

You need compassion, integrity and to treat people with dignity and respect. You need to be reliable because people are depending on you, to also work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends as needed. You also need to be a great communicator, both verbally and in writing and have basic IT and numerical skills. Driving license would be advantages but not essential.
