Suffolk
Uniquely within United Response, we have a special focus in Ipswich on supporting people with learning disabilities who are also deaf.
We support two households of deaf BSL users in Ipswich, provide deaf awareness training in the area and support people to attend a local deaf club. In these services, all our staff must have BSL Stage I, and are expected to progress to BSL Stage II while working for us.
Alongside this focus, we also run supported living services in Ipswich for other people with learning disabilities in Ipwich, as well as in Lowestoft, Newmarket and Stowupland, near Stowmarket.
I enjoy the variety – no two days are the same. We’ve got five different people here, so we support each of them on different days, in different ways, doing different things.
