Job Coach Mentor

Hours: 22.5 hrs per week (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday TERM TIME ONLY 44.6 weeks)with possible optional additional hours on an ad-hoc basis on usual non-working days.

Usual Base: Threemilestone, TR49NH

Fixed term contract to 31/7/2025 in the first instance

Salary: £12.02 per hour + Essential Car User Allowance £696.48 per year (£12,064.48 per annum + £696.48 ECU)

Who we need

Our Cornwall Supported Employment service require an enthusiastic and committed individual to support the education of learners on the Post 16 Programme of Study/Supported Internship programme. This programme is for young people 16 – 24 living in Cornwall and who have and Education Healthcare Plan (EHCP) and is funded by the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA)/Cornwall Council/Cornwall Adult Education.

This post will be located in Threemilestone, Cornwall however delivery of the programme can be across Cornwall. Delivery of the programme is through a mix of education and work-related activity both 1:1 and group work.

Full driving licence, own car and willingness to travel across Cornwall is essential.

Making it Happen – Your role

The role of the Job Coach Mentor is to support young people in realising their aspirations to participate in work related activities, and facilitate individuals’ progression into paid work, through volunteering, education and training, work experience and other routes.

The mentor will work flexibly across all key stages, work with individuals on 1:1 basis or very small groups under the direction of the Job Coach Tutor.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with confidence and initiative who is comfortable working on a one-to-one basis and sometimes without direct supervision.

Working with challenging young people and helping them develop will be key so you will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

You will follow a bespoke timetable and will build positive relationships with the young person to promote interaction and a constructive learning environment.

The successful applicant will join a dynamic, enthusiastic team, totally committed to supporting some of the most vulnerable young people in Cornwall.
