Team Leader – ROC Active

Salary: £25,350 per Annum

Location: Torbay

Hours: 37.5 per week (job share considered)

ROC Active, a part of United Response, is a fun and inclusive community-based day service. We are based at Torbay Leisure Centre in Paignton, Devon and offer a range of sports and activities, as well as health and fitness education. We support and inspire people with disabilities to participate in sport without barriers. We focus on people’s ability, not disability, and help them to achieve their goals. We offer an informed choice to create SMART, healthy, person-centred outcomes.

About the Role

As a Team Leader, you will:

  • Empower Lives: Work closely with individuals, helping them develop the skills, confidence, and knowledge to achieve their personal goals.
  • Lead a Team: Supervise and coordinate a dedicated group of enablers, 1:1 personal assistants, and volunteers to deliver high-quality services.
  • Foster Growth: Support staff development, encourage innovation, and facilitate learning opportunities.
  • Promote Excellence: Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies, legal requirements, and quality standards like CQC and MATRIX.
  • Support Development: Collaborate with the manager to enhance Active Torbay’s services and occasionally step up as Personalisation Manager.

As a Team Leader, your key responsibilities will be;

  • Provide leadership and guidance for the team.
  • Drive innovation and implement change within the service.
  • Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, colleagues, and external organisations.
  • Manage resources efficiently and ensure adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Achieve measurable results, ensuring customer satisfaction and continuous service improvement.

What skills you will bring;

  • Experience in care, health, or allied professions.
  • Supervisory or management experience.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, equality, and relevant legislation.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and IT skills.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion and valuing diversity.

Desirable skills;

  • NVQ 2/3 in Care or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience with learning program development and quality systems management.
  • Understanding of funding systems and local/national priorities.
